WIFM started with a professional ladies day lunch during the 2008 IFMA World Workplace show in Dallas, TX. A group of women facility managers were invited to a lunch by Kathy Edwards with Corporate Floors. The purpose of the lunch was to simply network among themselves.
That day, an idea was born. What if a group was created specifically for women, by women in Facilities Management? The goal of the group would be to provide a venue to help with professional development and networking specifically for women in this industry. Membership will only be open to women commercial Facility and Property Managers. . Everyone is invited to attend any or all meetings. Our next meeting will be held on May 18th in Houston. Eugenia Canakes Robbins, President of R E R Solutions will be our speaker.
We will also work on our mission statement. WIFM does not want to cover the same topics as IFMA. Our goal is to network women and utilize information to help us advance in our careers, find a work-life balance and excel in our personal lives as well. In some cases we may already be at our top level but we want to make sure you are receiving the recognition, pay, responsibility, and title for your position.
